Make Rice Krispie Treats
Do you remember that great snap, crackle and pop sound those Rice Krispies made when you added them to milk? Oh the memories. While out with some friends the other day, they told me that they never tasted Rice Krispie Treats. I couldn't resist, at the next potluck, I had already decided what to bring...
Rice Krispie treats are really easy to make! It will take you just under 10 minutes to do, and the result is great! Many of these ingredients are available in Europe too. Here is your shopping list:
- 3 1/2 cups Rice Krispies
- 160g Marshmallows
- 2 tbsp butter.
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Directions: Start by making the "glue". Put the butter, and marshmallows in a microwave save bowl, and put it in the microwave for about 3 minutes(800w). You'll know it's ready because you'll have a liquidy solution. Just make sure that the marshmallows have melted with the butter. You may have to take it out of the microwave at some point in-between to stir it. My advice is to use a butter sprayed spatula to prevent the "glue"from sticking.
When the marshmallows and butter are all melted add in the vanilla extract. Then start stiring in the Rice Krispies, using your spatula to stir it. Don't dump all the Rice Krispies in at the same time, make sure to do it slowly. Once you've got it all together, you can start by lining the inside of an 6 by 8 inch pan with melted butter. Then add the "mix" to the pan. Wash your hands(they need to be most) and start to mold the mix into the pan by pressing evenly until you get the right effect.
That's basically it, just let it sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes, and cut them into squares. Put what you can't eat right away in tupperware, you can save them for the rest of the week. Makes 8 servings.
Enjoy!
