About Me
My name is Michael Munevar, and I am an IT professional. How I became involved in IT is quite a long story, so here goes.
I grew up in the suburbs of Miami, Florida in a family house on a quiet street. As a child, I attended the local schools where I gained a more than adequate education. At the high school level, I decided to accelerate my learning and was given special permission to finish my senior year at the local college.
Because of my hard work in high school, I was granted a scholarship that funded my university studies. I received my Associates in Arts from Miami-Dade College in 1999, and soon after got accepted to full university. I began Florida State University in the fall of 2000. I pursued a bachelors in Computer Science and Mathematics. I graduated in December of 2001.
After graduation, I decided to move to New Jersey to improve my job prospects. Seeing how competitive the job market had become, I decided to specialize in education. After studying, I received my teaching certificate for the state of New Jersey, where I worked for several years.
In the fall of 2006, I was offered a job to teach IT at a secondary school in the UK. I accepted, and moved to Essex County in England. It was a new experience for me and an opportunity to work in a new culture. It was a drastic move that would change the course of my future.
After my teaching contract expired, I decided to invest more heavily on my professional IT career. Although I continued to teach, I also gained some freelance work in IT. I relocated for work several times, including Munich, New York City, and Dublin.
Currently, I live in Dublin, Ireland where I am the Head of Ecommerce Operations at a small multinational. In addition, I continue my consulting career part-time. I help small to medium size companies to improve their online web presence. On occasion, I teach the odd evening course in IT at the local college.
The wealth of experience that I have gained was due mainly to the fact that I chose to integrate my love of travel, with my professional career. I've kept this up, and it has allowed me to learn things that I would never have been able to learn through traditional methods.
I look forward to sharing these experiences with you as I continue my personal life and professional career.
